Hi, I’m LunarMagus

I’m a tarot reader who loves the mystery and the magic of the tarot, and I believe the cards can tell you what lies deepest in your heart. So for me, the cards are a way to find answers, for myself or for other people who are confused. That may be different from other kinds of reading, which focus mainly on looking into the future.

How did I get into this?

As a kid I was just an ordinary nerdy kid who liked books and science experiments, and I didn’t even believe in ghosts or magic. Then a trip to the planetarium got me wondering about the stars, and from the bookshop nearby I somehow came out with a book about astrology too. After that came Harry Potter, The Book of Answers and my first RWS tarot deck, which I still use today. I put it all away for almost 10 years, until a reading with a friend sent me back to the storage cupboard, and the cards were still there. The whole story is in A Note from the Starting Point.

So what makes me different from everyone else?

I’m an academic kind of tarot reader. Only once in a while do I actually go out and read for people in general. I like studying where things come from and the history of the cards, and I like digging into techniques, such as spreads, how the elements and numbers relate, and even astrology.

And what is this site for?

This website is for sharing my experience so far, along with ideas, case studies, and ways of reading the cards, both old and new, that I’ve studied in different places, from books to training courses.

I hope anyone who wanders in here takes away at least a few new ideas from my trial and error.
