General meaning
The Cups are the Water suit. They show emotions, feelings and love, which can adapt and change to fit the vessel they’re in. If the vessel is beautiful and right for it, the water inside looks good too.
Most of the time the Cups are about love, especially the situation in a relationship. Each card can tell you about the state of a relationship, from its mood to emotional problems like boredom, always wanting your own way, and disappointment.
If many Cups come up in a reading, it means that during that time you may face situations that affect your emotions and your love life quite a lot. Sometimes you’ll have to decide with your emotions, or keep them under extra control. And if the cards carry mixed emotions (for example, good and bad cards mixed together), you may face a time of mood swings. But if few Cups come up, you might feel bored and flat, with no mood to do anything at all.
The court cards of the Cups are mostly calm, understanding of others, very friendly and easy to get along with. They’re often the ones who bring people together or ease conflicts. But when solving problems they can sometimes be too emotional, and sometimes they’re indecisive, unpredictable and moody.
